Anahata Sound creates soundscapes of heartfelt eclectica. Drawing from influences as diverse as jazz, gypsy, avant-garde, electro-acoustic, bosa nova, underground hip-hop, a’capella, opera and experimental. Anahata digs an organic approach to producing electronic music, from making samples with field recordings to recording in Hawaiian caves, Native American ruins, jungles in Costa Rica to gettin’ down in her studio in Oakland and playing shows all over the world. Anahata is continually influenced by the Universe, Earth, Humanity and our connection to harmonizing them through sound, smiles and artfully moving the body!
In addition to anahata sounds solo project she is also a member of The Funginears and has mixed FOH sound for the Yard Dogs Road Show and has extensive experience in live, theater and studio sound since the age of 15. She has been the established front of house sound engineer for The Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival for the last seven years, mixing artists such as Jeff Hamilton, Benny Green, Grammy award winners Roy Hargrove and John Clayton, and Christian McBride.
Her formal schooling includes a B.A. with honors in Sound Engineering from the Art Institute of Seattle in Sound Engineering with additional studies in jazz theory and history, music theory, theater and environmental studies.
Anahata is currently involved in the global and local humanoid community by collaborating creatively with other artists in music, performance, dance and community empowerment. As well as teaching incarcerated youth meditation in Oakland Juvy halls with Mind Body Awareness. She recently released a new album, Scores of Silence, creating new music when divinely inspired and
Ms. Sound is also actively teaching, and practicing Qi Gong. With a strong background in Reiki, Qi Gong, yoga (Kundalini/ Ashtanga/ Iyengar/ Hatha), Bio-energetic healing, yoga mantra, Meditation, Shamanism, sacred clowning, sound healing, intuitive healing and Ayurvedic, Western and Chinese herbs and whole foods healing.
